Haven’t written on here for a bit so I thought I would.
Been very busy over the last while working on new Cookeilidh material for the upcoming St. Patrick’s week and with Ollie and Emma with my long time co-writer Cheri Jacobs.  That and just finishing moving in to my new place which after a month is finally beginning to look less like a box strewn campground.  Now it’s time to start doing some work.  The funny thing is with me, I actually like getting these things done…De stressing for me comes from my work.  Take that over jacuzzis any day.  Even with Champagne.. and strawberries…and…ok that would be pretry nice.  Maybe once I’ve done…ill let you know.  Well not about the jacuzzi…that would be gloaty.

Anyways.. Check out these two projects if you get a chance!

Cheers,
Tom 🙂

Mid December Madness!

Hey everyone!  Been a really busy week and right now I am up ridiculously early (got up at 3:30)…doing things that sort of qualify as work, but yeah it’s mostly puttering.  I can sleep later.  I’ll get to it.  More coffee!

This time of year is not only the gift buying but so many projects are going full tilt.  When I’m not working Cheri and I writing the first season of Ollie and Emma, getting ready for promo shoots and then of course you fit in being a returning student at Uvic which is in those exam things and the band http://www.Cookeilidh.com is getting geared up for Chrismas, including a show at the Mary Winspear center that I am totally stoked about being that I grew up on the Peninsula!

Here’s a recent photo from the Ollie and Emma shoots before I just go off on a tangent about defining “growing up on a peninsula”.  Yeah, that’s probably for the best…

Fear or Favour

Been working with Maureen Bradley and the rest of the Writing 420 class on the Fear or Favour Project which is a legal drama based in Victoria, B.C.  The process has been really exciting and I have taken the roles of Script Supervisor/Continuity and Editing.  Just finishing up the editing process now.

The Role of the Editor.

Film Editing

At its essential root, editing is the process of piecing together the entirety of recorded and filmed material in such as way to capture the creator’s original vision. As Vsevolod Pudovkin, a famous Russian editor, observed about the craft of editing it is the only art form within the creation of a film that comes from film-making (as opposed to many of the others that have their roots in stage, photography, music and so forth) In this blog I will discuss the history of the role of the editor, the standard process used and finish off but discussing working locally as a film editor.
